I worked real hard all day & so has Mom. I’m just dead tired. Cleaned out my closet today. Got some of my shorthand tonite. <(in shorthand) I can read it fairly good now.> Guess I’ll go to bed now. Hope I go rite to sleep.
She’s finally getting the hang of shorthand. She even wrote some of today’s entry in the diary IN shorthand! Thankfully, I can read shorthand, so I was able to translate it.
Today is Hazel’s 1000th diary entry!!!
Imagine — faithfully completing this one task for 1000 days in a row — It’s amazing!
While she did miss a couple days due to illness, she did go back and fill them in and said that’s what she’d done. I’ve tried keeping a diary since I started this project, and there are gaps everywhere. I can’t even go back and fill in because I can’t remember what I’ve done — Haha!
In honor of Hazel’s 1000th entry, I’m having a give-away. I haven’t had one on this blog for quite some time, so your chances of winning are really quite good!
I’m giving away a charm pack along with a copy of my charm-pack friendly “Field of Flowers” table runner pattern. The charm pack is “Helen’s Garden” by TamaraKate for Michael Miller Fabrics. All you’ll need to do is choose a background and some binding fabric to go along with it! Well, and backing and batting. And then there’s the sewing part . . .
To enter to win, all you need to do is leave a comment on this post. I’ll draw for a winner next Wednesday, October 1.
The diary entries continue, and Step 2 of the Happy & Scrappy Quilt-Along will be posted next Monday, so be sure to check back in!
I enjoy reading Hazel’s dairy. I admire people that keep journals. When my sister passed away her girls found boxes and boxes of journals she kept all of her adult life. It let them see a whole different side of their mother.
I’m loving this blog! I can’t imagine writing in my diary everyday for 1000 days either.
Wow! 1000 entries! I’d make it to about 10 and then forget about it!
I’m really enjoying these diary entries. How cool that you can read shorthand. I’ve forgotten all that I learned. I’d love to be included in your generous giveaway.
Congratulations you and congratulations to Hazel. I wonder what she would think about all this?
I have so enjoyed reading Hazel’s entries and your comments. Thank you for sticking with it for so long! And thank you for doing a giveaway; that pattern looks like it would be fun to do!
Wow 1000 days, i couldnt even do it for 100 days, Love reading the dairy entries, thanks Shelley.
I think Hazel and I are from the same era. I know or remember so many of the things she wrote about in her diary. It’s fun to “read” her diary!
I have to say I’m impressed by the 1000 days- that’s awesome.
Your blog is very entertaining. love it,
Wow, 1000 faithful entries! That’s so neat. A true glimpse into the past that ties you to your family. I love the historical tidbits, too. I appreciate the tremendous amount of work that you’ve put into this. Thank you for sharing.
Happy 1000th entry! You have a wonderful history here. I enjoy reading about it!
I can’t imagine doing anything but eating and sleeping for 1000 days in a row – that is just amazing!!! Love reading the history!!
I just found this blog of yours. I will be checking it out. I like your table runner pattern. Thank you for a chance to win.
A great accomplishment for Hazel. Wish I could do that.
