If you are a beginner quilter just starting out, and need help with using a rotary cutting system, now is a good time to visit your Local Quilt Shop and get some instruction before the Quilt-Along starts, so you’ll be ready.
Most quilt shops provide basic instruction on how to use a rotary cutting system for free. Just walk in and ask someone who works there for help. Lots of shops also offer Basic Rotary Cutting as a formal class for a small fee. If you’ve never used rulers and cutters before, it will be money well spent to take the class and get comfortable with your tools. You don’t want to start out the Quilt-Along being frustrated, and you will have to do some cutting before you can do any sewing!
If you don’t live near a quilt shop, see if you can bribe a quilting friend into showing you how it all works. Chocolate or warm homemade cookies are good persuasion items, and what better way to spend a cold winter afternoon than with a quilting friend?
Be sure to check in tomorrow . . . we’re having our first give-away!

This is such an incredible idea! What a gift to have your mother’s diary!
